Why GRP Fibreglass for the Track

Fibreglass has been the material of choice for race fairings across all categories of circuit sport for decades, and for good reason. Unlike OEM ABS plastic, GRP can be repaired with widely available materials in any workshop or paddock garage — a stone chip or a low-speed tip-over does not write off the panel. The material is also rigid enough to hold its shape under the aerodynamic loads generated at track speeds, yet light enough to keep the bike's frontal mass where it belongs.

For riders who want a purpose-built track fairing that survives a full season of hard use, fibreglass remains the practical, cost-effective choice.

Fitment Notes and Installation

Race fairings are designed exclusively for closed-circuit competition and trackday use. Unlike OEM bodywork, a degree of fitting work is normal and expected before final installation. You should anticipate minor operations such as drilling mounting holes, trimming panel edges and adjusting gap tolerances to achieve the correct fit on your specific machine.

Exhaust routing in particular can affect the belly spoiler and lower section clearances. Depending on the exhaust system fitted to your RSV4, additional clearance work may be required in the belly spoiler area. A full dry-fit trial before any painting or graphics application is mandatory — this is standard practice with all race-spec bodywork and ensures a clean, rattle-free result.

Optional Winglet Upgrade

For a complete aerodynamic racing setup, PlasticBike winglets are available separately and designed to integrate directly with this fairing set:

  • Right winglet: PRT11117-DX
  • Left winglet: PRT11117-SX
