BST manufactures the Rapid Tek rim using pre-preg carbon fibre — the same process and grade of material used in MotoGP and World Superbike programmes. Each layer is laid up under strictly controlled conditions and cured under heat and pressure, producing a rim of consistent, verifiable strength rather than the variable quality associated with wet lay-up construction. The 6082 T6 aluminium hub is machined from solid billet, then bonded and mechanically fastened to the carbon rim to form an assembly that meets rigorous load targets across radial, static, cornering and torsional axes. Load ratings for the front wheel are: radial 855 lbs / 388 kg, static 341 lbs / 155 kg, cornering moment 577 Nm, torsional moment 543.9 Nm. The rear wheel is rated to: radial 994 lbs / 451 kg, static 617 lbs / 280 kg, cornering moment 772 Nm, torsional moment 1,030 Nm. These figures comfortably exceed the demands of aggressive road riding and competitive track use.
