Rather than fighting the EC 300 all the way back down, they stop it while the tyres still have some grip, hold it on the brakes and let it down in a controlled way, ideally with the help of a friend. Turning a bike round on a steep slope takes practice, and it is much easier and safer with two people. Before restarting, look at the controls. The brake lever is especially exposed if the bike has come down on its right side or slid back over rocks. A bent lever may still work, but not as before, and on the way down a steep slope the front brake is the part you depend on most. Change it at the top or at the bottom, wherever the ground is flat enough to work.
