Accossato's Organic (OR) material takes the opposite approach: the company says it goes on performing for a long time and treats the disc kindly while it does. On the BMW R 1250 GS of 2019 to 2023 it is offered in the AGPA92 rear pad, for riders who use the boxer as everyday transport as much as for weekends away.

Key Features

Rear brake pads for the BMW R 1250 GS, 2019 to 2023

AGPA92OR: the AGPA92 plate carrying the Organic (OR) material

Accossato names a long service life and reduced wear on the disc

Our fitment list includes the Rallye version of the same years

Two pads per box, the complete set for the rear caliper

The ST, EV1, EV2 and ZXC numbers cover the other four materials

AGPA252 is the front pad for this model; the DK006 is the disc listed

No German ABE on file; supplied for competition and track use

Construction and Material Quality

Organic is the mildest of the five materials Accossato puts on this rear plate, and the company sums it up in a single thought: performance that lasts, without punishing the disc. That combination is exactly what most riders want at the back of a GS, where the brake is used constantly at low speed and hardly ever in anger. Nothing about the plate or the fitting changes between the materials, so the number on the box is the whole of the decision. Each box holds the two pads that a rear caliper takes, which is all this wheel needs.

Looking After the Rear Disc

Pads are a consumable and a disc should not be. The way most rear discs are ruined is straightforward: the friction material runs out unnoticed, the metal behind it meets the disc, and a part that might have lasted the life of the bike is scored beyond use in a single ride. Rear pads are particularly prone to this because nobody looks at them, and because the rear brake works quietly enough that a rider gets no warning from the pedal. Build a check into something you already do, at every tyre change or at the start of each season, and look at both pads rather than the outer one alone. While the wheel is out, run a fingernail across the disc; a surface that catches on ridges is telling you something. Keep oil, chain lubricant and polish away from it, and a rear disc on an R 1250 GS will see a great many sets of pads come and go.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGPA92 at the rear of the R 1250 GS from 2019 to 2023, with the Rallye covered in our own data. There is one caliper at that wheel, so one box completes the change, and the pads go in as a pair. Owners who want a firmer or more weatherproof character at the rear should look at the ST number, while the EV1, EV2 and ZXC numbers belong to circuit riding. At the front of the bike Accossato lists the AGPA252 over the same years. Check the fluid in the rear reservoir while the caliper is open and clean the piston before it is pushed back.

Road Approval

For this pad we have no German ABE, no test report and no approval mark, and so nothing that documents it for use in public traffic. The AGPA92OR is sold for track and competition riding.

Scope of Delivery

One box of two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, the set for the rear caliper.

Specifications

Part number: AGPA92OR

Compound: Organic (OR)

Dimensions: 108.5 × 40.1 × 7.7 mm

Material: Organic compound: organic resins, aramid fibres, graphite and metal powders

Friction coefficient: 0.41 average (0.36 minimum, 0.46 maximum), Ranzi test to European regulation

Density: 2.60 g/cm³ at 20 °C (+0.10 / −0.05)

Hardness: 100 HRR (± 10 HRR, Rockwell HRR scale)

Temperature resistance: 250 °C working, 400 °C maximum peak

Minimum shear strength: 20 kg/cm²

Contents: 2 brake pads, one set for one caliper
