Park one outside a café and within minutes someone will walk around it, study the rear tyre, lean in towards the engine and ask a question or two. Owners know the bike is judged by its details, and small things reveal how it is kept: an oily film around the filler, a scratched cap, a dull patch where a cleaning product was left to dry. Keeping the filler area clean is part of looking after the engine as well. Open the cap only with the engine off and cooled, check the level the way the owner's manual describes, and wipe the thread and the sealing face before the cap goes back in. Turn it by hand until it seats and leave it there; a cap forced in with pliers keeps the marks for everyone to see. If you add oil, use a funnel and a rag, so no drop runs down the crankcase and collects road dust. The FP004 and the FP007 clutch cover can be ordered in the same colour, which ties engine and handlebar together visually.
