Fuel residue and brake dust come off more easily once softened by a mild motorcycle cleaner, applied with a soft sponge and given a minute to work. Keep acidic wheel cleaners and aggressive degreasers away from the tank area: they can attack aluminium and dull coloured finishes, and the FC113 and its pin are right in the firing line when you spray the front of the Z900RS Cafe. If you use a pressure washer at all, keep it well away from the filler and never aim it at the cap, where a jet can force water towards the seal. Rinse gently, dry with a clean microfibre towel and open the cap briefly afterwards to check that no water has collected around the opening. Once or twice a season, a coat of wax on the tank makes fuel drops easier to wipe away next time.
