The instructor explains an exercise, the group rides a few laps, then everyone stops for feedback before the next step: looking further ahead, braking more progressively, moving the body. It is intense and effective, but it also means the F800R spends much of the day idling, stopping and restarting, and the fuel level drops faster than the short laps suggest. Refuel during the lunch break rather than at the end of the day, when everyone queues for the can and concentration is fading. Engine off, bike upright, cap open, fuel in, cap shut. Slow exercises also produce the occasional tip-over at walking pace, so it is worth checking the cap and pawl after any fall, however gentle.
