On level ground, many riders turn their back to the seat, crouch, take the lower grip in one hand and a solid point at the rear in the other, and push up with their legs rather than pulling with their arms. On a slope, turn the bike first so the wheels point downhill or at least across the hill. In mud, clear the front wheel if it is buried.
