On a slippery patch the aim is to let the drive build gradually, with low revs and a slow release through the friction zone, so the tyre never gets more than it can hold. That is hard to do with a lever that bites at the very end of a long stretch. Set the ESY688 so the take-up begins with your fingers comfortably curled, and practise the slow release in the dry until it becomes habit.
