They then pull the clutch with their fingertips, which is tiring and imprecise, and in traffic it tempts them to keep the lever pulled in for too long or to hurry the release. The fix is to bring the lever in until the blade lies under the middle of your fingers with the hand relaxed around the grip, and then to check that you can still pull it all the way in. With the lever set like that, the friction zone arrives where the fingers have most strength and feel. Once the reach is sorted, the standard blade suits most hands on the 390 Duke; the short blade suits small hands that like to use two fingers, while the long one lightens the pull for riders who spend a lot of time in town.
