That is why blade length is more than a question of looks. The long version of the EDF039 gives your middle, ring and little fingers somewhere to pull well away from the pivot, which lowers the effort needed for a firm stop. For riders who are still building confidence with the front brake, or whose hands tire quickly, that makes a noticeable difference on the 200 Duke, where the single disc rewards a determined, steady squeeze more than a quick dab. The standard blade sits closest to the original lever and suits most riders. The short blade works the other way round: it is meant for two-finger braking and keeps the outer fingers free, at the cost of some leverage.
