On tarmac those blocks put a smaller area of rubber on the road and can flex under load, so the front starts to squirm sooner than on a road tyre, and the limit of grip comes earlier, especially while the tyre is cold. That does not mean braking late or timidly. It means building pressure smoothly and giving the tyre a moment to take the load before you ask for more. On the F 800 GS this is fingertip work, and fingertips are most sensitive when they meet the lever without being stretched. Set the EDB001's reach so the blade lies against the first finger joint when your hand rests on the grip.
