Performance on Track

Reducing rotating mass at the rear wheel is one of the most effective chassis modifications available to a track rider. By replacing the standard cast wheel with the Cattiva's forged magnesium construction, the YZF-R1/M responds more keenly to lean inputs, settles faster under braking, and drives harder out of corners. The six-spoke layout is not a stylistic choice — each spoke is dimensioned to deliver maximum stiffness-to-weight ratio, keeping tyre contact patch behaviour consistent at the speeds the R1 is capable of generating.

Build Quality

OZ's Italian manufacturing heritage means every Cattiva wheel is produced under the same processes used to supply factory World Superbike and MotoGP programmes. Forging, rather than casting, aligns the grain structure of the magnesium to follow the load paths through each spoke, producing a wheel that is simultaneously lighter and stronger than a conventional cast aluminium alternative.
