Five euro to close a hole. When a fabricated system leaves a lambda boss unused, this is what goes into it.
Key Features
- M12 plug for closing an unused lambda sensor thread.
- Brass.
- Sealing washer ROND12X18R is a separate article.
- Spark part number TAPPO017, made in Mantova, Italy.
Which Thread
M12 is the smaller of the two sizes Spark supplies plugs for. M18 is the other, and the two are not interchangeable — check the boss before ordering, because a plug that does not fit is not something a workshop can adapt.
Why a Boss Gets Plugged
A racing system with no sensor still has to be gas-tight. An open boss leaks, makes noise it should not, and lets exhaust gas into places it does not belong — usually straight at a fairing panel.
Brass, Not Steel
Brass will not seize into a steel boss the way a steel plug does after a season of heat cycles. It is softer, it deforms slightly to seal, and it comes out again when the sensor has to go back in.
Order the Washer With It
The copper sealing washer is a separate article, ROND12X18R, at one euro. Without it the plug seals on the thread alone, which works until it does not.
