Three point four kilos. The standard R6 exhaust weighs 10.3, so Spark's STEP 3 kit with the Grid-O silencer takes just under seven kilos off a 600 — and almost all of it from the middle and the right-hand side of the motorcycle.
Key Features
- Full titanium racing system for the Yamaha R6 and YZF-R6 Race.
- Titanium collector with Grid-O silencer.
- STEP 3: Spark's latest kit level, connections machined from solid by CNC.
- 3.4 kg against 10.3 kg for the standard system.
- The lightest of Spark's three STEP 3 builds for this motorcycle.
- Racing part, not approved for road use.
STEP 1, 2 and 3
Spark numbers its R6 kits, and the numbers mean something specific. STEP 1 was the first version — cheaper, and without the CNC connections. STEP 2 added those connections, improving how the collector sections couple and how long they stay tight, and brought a torque gain in the mid-range. STEP 3 is the latest, developed specifically around engines in Supersport configuration, and it keeps the machined-from-solid joints.
If you are comparing offers on a used system, the step level is worth more than the silencer badge. A STEP 1 and a STEP 3 are not the same exhaust with a different case on the end.
Six Point Nine Kilos
The weight is where this kit separates itself, including from its own siblings: the Konix Evo build is 4.0 kg and the Force Evo 4.2, against 3.4 here. On a motorcycle that weighs under 190 kilos dry, seven kilos out of the exhaust is a change you feel turning in, not a number for the spec sheet.
The Grid-O case is the reason. It is the lightest silencer Spark makes — a perforated titanium sleeve with a mesh end cap, laser-cut and TIG-welded, with no clamped rings adding mass at either end.
No Noise Figure, and What That Means
Spark quotes 102 dB for the Force Evo version of this kit and 106 dB for the Konix Evo. For the Grid-O it quotes nothing, which is the honest signal: this is the configuration for riders with no static limit to meet, or with a limit high enough not to think about.
If your circuit publishes a hard number, take the Force Evo build, GYA8873T. If it does not, this is the lighter and cheaper of the two.
What the Kit Has Won
Spark developed the R6 system with riders and teams over several seasons and took the Italian SSP600 title with it in 2019 and again in 2020. At the opening round of that championship the system recorded the top speed of the meeting at Mugello, 275.50 km/h.
Those are the manufacturer's figures and they describe a race bike, not a road one — but they do tell you what the collector was optimised against.
Installation
Full system: the standard collector comes off and Spark's replaces it entirely. The STEP 3 connections are machined from solid on a CNC, which is what makes the collector joints repeatable when the system is taken apart between sessions.
Fitment & Compatibility
Yamaha R6 and YZF-R6 Race, 2006 to 2026. The Force Evo version is GYA8873T and the Konix Evo version GYA8877T. Spark's stainless-collector systems for the same motorcycle are GYA8805T, GYA8824T and GYA8853T.
Road Approval
None. Spark lists this article as not approved. Closed course only.
