The JP ES 038 answers the Panigale 1199 R's rear light circuit, which measures current rather than light and therefore treats a modern LED unit as a failed lamp.

Carbon Bodywork
Front mudguard, heat shields and infill panels in visible weave. On a homologation model it is expected and Ducati did not skimp.
Nothing Is Cut
It goes into the loom's own connector where the tail unit was, so the wiring stays factory. That is what makes the change reversible in the time it takes to reach the connector.
Fitting an Aftermarket Tail
Most conversions replace a filament unit with an LED one, and the current drop is enough to look like a failure. The connector restores the load the circuit expects to find.
The Two Common Reasons
Either the tail unit has been removed for track use, or it has been replaced with an LED assembly that draws too little to satisfy the monitoring circuit.
The Track Day Case
Organised sessions require the rear lighting removed or taped over. Removing it properly means a warning for the rest of the day unless the circuit is answered.
How the Monitoring Works
Ducati's body controller passes a small current through the rear lighting circuit and compares what returns against a figure consistent with the standard unit. It never sees light, only load.
On a Streetfighter
Less bodywork and better access, which shortens the job further. The connector and the eliminator are the same items regardless of the model.
What a Rear Conversion Usually Involves
A shorter mudguard, a plate bracket, often an LED tail unit and sometimes new indicators. Each of those touches a circuit the controller watches, which is why one motorcycle can end up needing more than one answer under the seat. Working out which warnings belong to which change is easier with a diagnostic tool than with guesswork.
