DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 026 closes the GSX-R 1000's sidestand circuit so the motorcycle runs without the stand.
Key Features
- Suzuki GSX-R 1000 (2001–2021)
- Bypasses the sidestand safety switch
- Suppresses the resulting dashboard fault
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
- No cutting and no splicing
- Fully reversible to standard
The Most Raced Suzuki
The GSX-R 1000 has been a fixture on grids worldwide for two decades. Preparation is routine on these bikes and the stand is invariably among the first things removed.
What the Switch Does
Stops the engine with a gear selected and the stand down. Remove the stand and the same circuit reads as permanently deployed.
The Consequence
The bike will not run in gear at all. Nothing else on the preparation list can be tested until the circuit is closed properly.
Presented, Not Bridged
This unit supplies the state the ECU expects rather than shorting two pins together. No fault is stored and nothing appears on the dash.
Twenty-one Model Years
The fitment runs from 2001 to 2021 across the K1, the K5, the K9 and the L7. Suzuki left the sidestand wiring alone throughout.
The Broad Powerband
Suzuki's variable valve system on the current bike widens the usable range without complicating the engine. It is a mechanical solution where rivals used electronics.
Original Connector
Nothing spliced. The switch refits with the stand whenever the bike returns to the road.
Done in Five Minutes
One plug near the swingarm pivot. It is the first job on any preparation list and the quickest.
Keep It on the Road
If the stand is still fitted, the interlock should be connected. It exists for a failure mode that catches experienced riders too.
A Long Production Run
Twenty-one model years under one fitment is unusual, and it says something about how conservative Suzuki has been with the peripheral electrics. The engine, chassis and electronics changed enormously across that period while the sidestand circuit stayed exactly where it was.
