DescriptionThe whole story▼
An Africa Twin is often bought with one big journey in mind: a summer crossing the Balkans, a loop round Scandinavia, the long road south to the Sahara. The CRF1000L brought the Africa Twin name back in 2016 as an adventure bike meant to leave the tarmac, and plenty of owners take that at its word. Far from home, a slow tip-over on a gravel hairpin is rarely a disaster, but a snapped front brake lever can end the day's riding. Accossato's AGD207 is a silver replacement brake lever of the original type for the CRF1000L Africa Twin of 2016 to 2019, and it is easy to pack.
Key Features
- Original-type replacement brake lever for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin
- Listed for 2016 to 2019, including the DCT and Adventure Sports DCT versions Accossato names
- Silver
- Right handlebar, front brake
- Developed by Accossato for good value for money
- More resistant after damage or a fall, as Accossato states, because of the way it is made
- Supplied as a single lever
- No German ABE or test mark; for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
On an adventure bike, a replacement lever should above all be unremarkable: it should look and sit like the one that broke. That is why the AGD207 is made to the original type, keeping the Africa Twin's cockpit as Honda laid it out, and Accossato developed it with value for money in mind. The company further states that its manufacturing process improves the lever's resistance after damage or a crash. The colour is silver. Accossato gives no other technical data, and none is added here.
A Spare in the Luggage
Seasoned travellers pack spares by likelihood, and levers rank high, because a loaded adventure bike that falls over at walking pace usually lands on one. A spare brake lever is easy to stow in a tool roll, and it turns a long wait for a dealer into a short roadside job. Practise the swap at home before you leave, so you know which tools the pivot needs and how the lever meets the master cylinder piston, and then pack exactly those tools. On the road the routine is the same as in the garage: bike secure, old lever off, pivot wiped clean and given a trace of grease, new lever on, pivot tightened. Before setting off, squeeze the lever several times, make sure the pressure point is firm and the brake light works, and test the brake at very low speed before joining the road. If the old lever is only bent, carry it home rather than straightening it by the roadside; a lever that has been bent back can break just when you need it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list shows the AGD207 for the CRF1000L Africa Twin from 2016 to 2019, naming the manual models as well as the DCT versions and the Adventure Sports DCT of 2018. All of them have a conventional front brake lever on the right, so the same part applies. We also list this lever for the XL750 Transalp, the NC750X and the CB500X. Hold the product photo against your own lever before ordering. Accossato's CNC brake lever for this Africa Twin is the EDF018.
Road Approval
No approval papers for the AGD207 are available to us, whether a German ABE or a test mark, so the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
