DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every cross-country rider has a list of things that go in the backpack or bum bag: a tow strap, a few tools, tyre levers and, very often, a spare clutch lever. On a Honda CRF450RX, a broken clutch lever far from the pits can end a race or a long ride. Accossato's C7210 is a folding clutch lever for the CRF450RX of 2017 to 2020, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075. A joint allows its long, four-finger blade to fold forward in a fall, which may keep that spare in the bag.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Honda CRF450RX, 2017 to 2020
- Installed at the original clutch perch
- Longer blade designed for four fingers
- Joint lets the blade fold forward rather than break
- Cut from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy
- Black or red blade, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road racing
Construction and Material Quality
The C7210 is made from Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, and shaped entirely by CNC machining from solid material in Italy. Accossato names strength, low weight and reliability as its aims, and each has a practical meaning: strong enough for hard use, light enough to add nothing noticeable at the end of the bar, reliable enough to trust for a full race. The finished lever has two parts. A dark base sits on the pivot; the blade, black or red, hangs from the joint. As a clutch lever it has the longer shape Accossato uses for four fingers.
What Goes in the Backpack
A spare lever is one of the most common items in an off-road rider's pack, and for good reason. Levers are among the parts most often broken in falls, and a missing clutch lever turns every slow section into a struggle. Changing one at the trailside is simple enough if you have practised: loosen the pivot, take off the old lever, fit the new one, set the clutch up as it was and ride on. Do it once in the garage before you have to do it in the rain.
A folding lever changes the calculation slightly. Because the C7210 can swing forward on its joint when the CRF450RX goes down, there is a reasonable chance that the lever on the bike is still usable after a fall, and the spare stays in the bag. That is a probability, not a certainty, so experienced riders keep carrying the spare anyway. Some carry a second C7210 for exactly that purpose, which also keeps the feel of the lever the same if a change is ever needed.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7210 for the Honda CRF450RX from 2017 to 2020 and fits it to the original clutch perch. The B8207 folding brake lever for the same years completes the set on the right. Both come in black or red.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7210, so it is intended for off-road competition and closed ground, like the CRF450RX.
