DescriptionThe whole story▼

Owners who take a Panigale 899 to track days usually build up their crash protection step by step: frame sliders, bar-end sliders, perhaps a lever guard on the brake side. The clutch lever is easily forgotten in that list, although it sits just as exposed at the left end of the bar. Accossato's LV015 is a folding clutch lever for the Panigale 899 of 2014 to 2015. It mounts on the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder, is adjustable in reach, and has a blade that can fold on a hinge.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Panigale 899, 2014 to 2015
  • Fits the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder
  • Hinged blade to reduce the chance of breakage in a fall
  • Reach to the grip adjustable
  • Black base; blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium
  • With or without RST lightening cut-out
  • CNC-machined, anodised aluminium
  • Sold for track use, no German ABE documented

Construction and Material Quality

The LV015 is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, and it is built in two pieces. The base, anodised black, surrounds the pivot and contains the reach adjuster. The blade is hinged to the base and anodised in the colour you choose. If you prefer a blade with a lightening cut-out, order the RST version; the NRST blade is solid. Both variants use the same base and the same joint, so the choice changes the look, not the function.

One Part of a Crash-Protection Plan

No single part protects a motorcycle in a crash, and it is worth being honest about what each one does. Frame sliders are meant to take the first contact with the ground; bar-end sliders keep the ends of the bar from digging in; a folding lever is there so the blade has a chance to swing out of the way instead of breaking. On a Panigale 899 sliding on its left side, the clutch lever is often one of the first parts to touch the tarmac.

Seen that way, the LV015 is the last item on the left side of the plan. It does nothing to prevent a crash and cannot promise to survive one, but it improves the odds that the Panigale 899 can be ridden back to the paddock with a working clutch after a slow slide. Before the next session, look at the hinge area and check that the blade moves freely and is not bent; a lever that has folded once deserves a careful look before you trust it again.

Fitment and Compatibility

The LV015 fits the Panigale 899 of 2014 and 2015 in Accossato's list, US and Thai versions included, and takes the place of the original clutch lever. For the front brake, the LV013 and the remote-adjustable RA002 complete the folding range for this bike over the same two years.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented; the LV015 is offered for circuit use.
