DescriptionThe whole story▼
A clutch lever from the factory is drawn for an average hand. Riders with shorter fingers feel that at every stop: the blade sits too far away, the hand has to open wide before it can pull, and after an hour in town the forearm starts to complain. The Accossato ESD082 is a clutch lever for the Monster 821 Stripe from 2014 to 2019 whose distance to the grip can be reduced. It is machined from aluminium, anodised in two tones and made in three blade lengths, so the lever can be matched to the hand rather than the other way round.
Key Features
- Reach adjustable, so the blade can come closer to the grip
- Replaces the clutch lever on the original Ducati mounting
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Choice of three lengths, standard at about 138 mm
- Black hub; blade in green, blue, orange, gold, silver, red or black
- One-piece rigid blade
- Delivered in an Accossato box
- Sold for track use, no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the ESD082 by CNC machining and anodises the finished part. The hub takes the pivot and the small adjuster and is always black. The blade is the coloured part, and it runs from the hub to the tip without a break. With no hinge and no separate pieces, there is nothing in the lever that can develop play, and the reach you set stays where you left it.
Shorter Fingers, Closer Lever
The Monster 821 Stripe appeals to a wide range of riders, and not all of them have large hands. When the clutch lever is too far out, the natural reaction is to reach with the fingertips only, which gives little strength and makes the friction point hard to hold. Set the ESD082 closer and the middle of the fingers meets the blade instead. Do it with the gloves you normally wear: rest your hand on the grip, then turn the adjuster until the blade sits where your fingers can wrap around it without the wrist lifting.
Two checks belong to every change of reach. First, pull the lever fully in with the engine running and a gear selected, and make sure the bike does not creep forward. Second, make sure the blade does not touch your fingers on the grip before it reaches the end of its travel. When both are fine, the setting is right.
The length is the second decision. A longer blade gives more leverage and a lighter pull, and it is made in blue, green, orange and gold. The short one keeps the lever compact and suits two-finger use.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESD082 for the Monster 821 Stripe from 2014 to 2019, naming the versions 2014 to 2017 and 2018 to 2019. It takes the place of the original clutch lever on both. On the right-hand side, the Monster 821 Stripe can be fitted with Accossato's EDB012 brake lever.
Road Approval
We sell this clutch lever for the track: a German ABE is not documented for it.
