Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Zontes ZT 350-X (2020–2026) SM277S

Choosing a filter medium is not a matter of picking the best one from a list. It is a trade, and the ZT 350-X is a fair place to set it out, because what decides the answer is the surface under the wheels rather than anything about the motorcycle. The same housing takes several different weaves, and each of them buys retention with flow at a fixed exchange rate.

Finer costs flow, coarser costs retention

Set the three media side by side and the exchange rate is obvious. Going from 80 µm to 14 µm holds back a great deal more of the fine mineral fraction and gives up most of the flow figure to do it. Going on to 7 µm takes that further again. None of these is an upgrade over the others; they are specified for different air. The P08 is the road and track answer, chosen when the air is mostly clean and the flow is worth keeping. The finer weaves earn their loss of flow only where the dust is genuinely there.

Why the answer to dust is not oil

The traditional fix for dirty air is a tacky oiled cotton gauze, and the measured comparison does not support it: 93.13 % against 76.42 % on the same 100-micron test. Oiling is also a judgement with no way to check it from outside — under-oiled and the medium is not doing what the label says, over-oiled and the surplus travels downstream onto everything the intake feeds. A dry element removes the variable entirely. It will not, to be clear, make a standard ZT 350-X faster; no slot-in filter does. It changes what the engine is asked to swallow, and how often you have to buy anything.

Care and cleaning

Dust comes out with compressed air worked from the clean face outwards. Where the loading is oily rather than dry, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will shift it, and the element is then rinsed until the water runs clean. Drying is by air movement only, never heat or flame, and the SM277S is refitted dry with no dressing of any kind. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.

Catalogued for the Zontes ZT 350-X of 2020 to 2026, alongside eight other Zontes machines running from the 250 of 2019 through the 310 models of 2021 to 2023. One element code covers all nine. The code and the year are the two things to check.
