Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT (2018–2019) PM253S

The XT arrived for 2018 and was gone when the generation ended a year later: wire-spoked wheels, hand guards and a sump guard, sold on the idea that the tarmac can stop without the ride stopping. Two model years is a short window and a small population, and owners who use theirs as it was sold put a load on the intake that a road-only V-Strom never sees — gravel, forest track, the dust hanging behind whatever is in front. The Sprint Filter P08 PM253S is a dry, washable element for the standard airbox. It adds no power, and no filter inside an airbox can. What it offers is a part you can inspect and clean the day you dirtied it, not a paper cartridge whose service interval knows nothing about the road you took.

When the surface stops being tarmac

Dust does not respect a service interval. One dry gravel pass can do more to an element than a month of commuting, and a week of unsealed stages more than a summer of motorway. With a paper cartridge you cannot check that without buying a replacement first, so the check waits for the next scheduled service — often long past the day it mattered. A washable element makes looking free, and an inspection with no purchase attached is one that actually happens. On a motorcycle bought precisely to leave the sealed road, that is the point of the P08.

P08 or T12 — choosing the weave

The P08 filters at 80 microns and passes 5,050 litres per square metre per second: the standard medium, meant for road and track and entirely at home on gravel taken at touring pace. If your XT genuinely lives in dust — long unsealed stages, desert piste, riding in line behind others — the same fitment also exists as the T12, part number PM253T12, a polyester non-woven at 7 microns that passes 560 litres. That is far more held back and far less through. Finer weave always buys retention with flow, so it is a swap made for the conditions, not a ladder to climb. Both media are dry and both are regenerated with compressed air.

Care and cleaning

An air line held to the clean side and blown outwards is the whole of it, and on unsealed roads you do that as often as the riding demands. If air will not do, the PM253S takes lukewarm water and a mild detergent; rinse until the water runs clear. It then dries completely in open air — no heat, no flame — and is refitted dry. Fitment & Compatibility

Made for the Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT, 2018 and 2019, as a direct replacement in the standard airbox. Four machines share this element: the V-Strom 1000 and V-Strom 1000XT up to 2019, and the V-Strom 1050 and 1050XT from 2020 onwards. The full list is in the Fitment tab.
