Seven kilos. Spark's own description of this kit is a system for anyone who wants to be noticed — and heard — and the weight figure backs the first half of that: 3,7 kg where the standard exhaust weighs 10,7.
Key Features
- Racing full system for the Honda CB650R and CBR650R.
- AISI 304 stainless manifolds.
- Racing link pipe in titanium, TIG welded.
- Grid-O silencer in full titanium.
- 3,7 kg against 10,7 kg for the standard system.
- Racing part — Spark states it is not recommended for road use.
The Titanium Pipe Is the Difference
Three of Spark's four systems for this motorcycle use a stainless section between the manifolds and the silencer. This one uses titanium, TIG welded and left visible.
That single change takes it from 4,8 kg — the figure for the otherwise comparable GHO8840T — down to 3,7. A little over a kilo, for 238 euro. It is the most expensive kilo in the range and the reason this article sits at the top of it.
Where This Sits in the Range
Spark builds four systems for the CB and CBR 650R. Only GHO8838TOM carries an approval; the other three are racing articles, and this is the extreme end of them.
The step from GHO8840T to this one is 238 euro and 1,1 kg — the price of replacing a stainless link pipe with a titanium one. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on whether the motorcycle is weighed at scrutineering.
Seven Kilos Off a 650
To put the number in context: a CB650R weighs around 200 kg ready to ride. Removing seven of those from the exhaust alone is close to what a full titanium system achieves on a much larger and much more expensive motorcycle.
All of it comes from the right-hand side and below the seat — mass that was working against the bike every time it changed direction.
Spark Is Explicit About the Use
The article page carries a plain instruction: not recommended for road use, for racing use only. That is stronger wording than the usual not-approved note, and it is worth reading as written.
The reason is the combination — no catalyst, an unrestricted titanium link and a Grid-O with a large outlet. This is the loudest configuration Spark offers for the 650R.
What It Shares With the Rest
The manifolds are the same AISI 304 stainless design as the other three systems, with the collector diameters and 4-2-1 conic sections Spark developed for this engine. The Grid-O silencer is the full titanium article with visible TIG welds, the same design used on the 2020 Moto2 championship-winning machine.
Fitment & Compatibility
Honda CB650R Neo Sports Café and CBR650R, 2019 to 2025. The Euro5 approved kit is GHO8838TOM at 6,5 kg. Other racing systems: GHO8840T with a stainless link at 4,8 kg, GHO8839T with a Konix Evo silencer.
Road Approval
None. Spark lists the system as not approved and states that it is not recommended for road use — racing use only.
