DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ten point nine horsepower on an engine that already makes 179. On a supercharged motorcycle that is a surprising figure — the blower, not the exhaust, normally sets what the engine can do — and it is what a header can find where a slip-on cannot.
Key Features
- 10.9 PS more at 11,200 rpm, peak output rising from 179.1 to 188.8 PS
- 6.2 Nm more at 6,800 rpm
- 4.0 kg against the standard 6.7 kg: 2.7 kg and 40.3 per cent less
- Made from the finest stainless steel
- Fits machines with one or with two lambda sensors
- ECU remapping recommended
- No road approval — circuit use only
Why a Supercharged Engine Still Responds
The Akrapovic slip-on for the Z H2 gains 1.0 PS. This header gains 10.9. The reason is where the restriction sits.
A supercharger pushes air in regardless of what the exhaust does, which is why a silencer swap changes little. But the standard header carries the catalytic converter, and on a forced-induction engine pushing that much gas the converter is the bottleneck. Removing it lets the blower's work reach the crankshaft.
One Sensor or Two
Akrapovic states that this part fits bikes with either one or two lambda sensors, which matters because Kawasaki changed the sensor arrangement partway through the Z H2's life to meet Euro 5+.
On a Euro 5+ machine with two sensors the engine check light will appear after fitting, because the ECU detects a deviation in the catalytic converter's parameters. That is expected with this part, not a fault, and remapping the ECU is the way to resolve it.
What You Need Alongside It
This header requires an Akrapovic slip-on to complete the system — for the Z H2 that is S-K10SO31-HGITBL, the black-coated titanium unit with its own catalytic converter. Note that the slip-on alone is type approved; adding this header removes that approval.
Two Headers for the Z H2
Akrapovic builds this header in two versions by model year. E-K10R8 covers 2024 to 2026; E-K10R6 covers the earlier machines. The published figures are the same for both, but the parts are not interchangeable — Kawasaki changed the lambda sensor arrangement for Euro 5+, and the flange geometry followed.
Check the first registration date before ordering. A Z H2 does not announce its emissions standard from the outside.
Fitment and Compatibility
E-K10R8 covers the Kawasaki Z H2 from model year 2024 through 2026. Installation is quoted at 90 minutes.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
