DescriptionThe whole story▼
Race days in the youth classes follow a rhythm: practice, a break, the first moto, another break, the second moto. For the parent looking after a Kawasaki KX100, those breaks are for spannering, and a quick check of the controls belongs on the list every time. Accossato's C7220 is a folding clutch lever for the KX100 from 2001 to 2018, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075. Its long blade suits four fingers, and its joint lets the blade fold forward rather than break when the bike goes down.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Kawasaki KX100, 2001 to 2018
- Takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long, four-finger blade
- Anti-break joint gives the blade the option of folding forward
- Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, gold or green, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, is the material Accossato uses for the C7220, machining it from solid on CNC equipment in Italy. The company is after three things: strength, low weight and reliability. The lever is assembled from a dark base, which mounts at the pivot of the original clutch mount and carries the joint, and a blade in black, gold or green that can fold forward on that joint. It is Accossato's long clutch shape, sized for four fingers, which leaves room for a hand that is still growing.
Checks Between Motos
A good between-moto routine takes about ten minutes. Clean or swap the air filter if the track is dusty, check the tyre pressures, look over the spokes, chain and sprockets, and run a hand over every bolt that tends to loosen. Then the controls: are both levers where the rider likes them, do they move freely, does the throttle close by itself when released? On a KX100 the clutch should also start to disengage at the same point of the lever's travel as it did in the morning; if a fall has changed that, set it again as the owner's manual describes. Most young riders will not mention a problem unless asked, so ask.
After a crash in the moto, the clutch lever deserves a closer look. If the KX100 went down on its left and the C7220's blade folded forward on its joint, swing it back by hand, check that it moves smoothly and that the clutch engages as before. A folded blade has a fair chance of coming through a fall in usable condition, which is exactly why Accossato gives it a joint, but that is not guaranteed, and a lever that feels wrong should be replaced before the next moto. A spare in the toolbox is still sensible; with luck, it stays in its bag for most of the season.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7220 for the Kawasaki KX100 from 2001 to 2018 and fits it at the original clutch mount. The B8262 folding brake lever covers the same years and adds blue to the colour choice; black, gold and green are shared by both levers.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7220. It is intended for motocross tracks and closed off-road ground.
