DescriptionThe whole story▼

Ask TE 300 riders how they tackle tight woods and many will say: one gear higher than you would think. The big Husqvarna two-stroke pulls from low revs, so rather than screaming it in first, riders often stay in second or third and use the clutch to smooth the moments when the engine is about to bog. The left hand spends the ride with a finger or two resting on the lever, ready to slip it. That lever can be Accossato's C7283, a folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna TE 300 of 2014 to 2016, milled from Ergal 7075.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna TE 300, 2014 to 2016
  • Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mount
  • Long blade with room for four fingers
  • Anti-break joint in Accossato's design lets the blade fold in a fall
  • CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, made in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red, on a dark base
  • Single lever
  • No German ABE on file; for off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

A lever that is touched all day long should feel solid under the fingers, and the C7283 is made with that in mind. Accossato mills it in Italy from Ergal 7075, working from a solid piece on CNC machines, with strength, low weight and reliability as the declared goals. The design has two parts: a dark base on the clutch pivot and a blade in black, blue, orange or red, linked by the folding joint. The blade is long, meant for four fingers, which helps when a clutch covered by one finger suddenly needs a full, hard pull.

Riding a Gear Too High

Short-shifting a 300 two-stroke is a way of finding grip. With the engine turning slowly, the rear tyre is less likely to break loose on wet roots or slick rock, and the bike tracks where it is pointed. The price is that the engine is always close to stalling. A sudden stop, a tight turn round a tree or a rock that kicks the rear wheel sideways can drop the revs too far, and the left hand has to react at once. A quick slip keeps the motor alive; a late one leaves you stalled in the middle of the trail.

Stalls in tight going often end with a slow topple, the bike falling towards the side where the rider's boot misses the ground. On the left, the clutch lever lands first. On the TE 300 the C7283 answers that with its joint, which lets the blade fold away instead of breaking off at the tip and gives the rider a fair chance of restarting and carrying on. There is no promise in that, only better odds. For a riding style that depends on the clutch every few seconds, keeping that lever intact matters more than on most bikes.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list gives the C7283 for the Husqvarna TE 300 of 2014 to 2016, fitted at the original clutch mount. For the 2017 TE 300 it names a different clutch lever, the C7284. On the brake side, the B8283 folding lever covers 2014 to 2017. Red is offered on this clutch lever only; the brake lever comes in black, blue and orange.

Road Approval

For the C7283 there is no German ABE. Even on a registered TE 300 the lever is not approved for road use; it is meant for off-road riding and competition.

Scope of Delivery
