DescriptionThe whole story▼
The SFV650 Gladius was built for riders who want an approachable middleweight rather than a race replica, which makes it a sensible choice for people coming back to motorcycling after years away. Balance and road sense return quickly after a long break; fine clutch control tends to take longer. The Accossato ESS248 replaces the clutch lever of the 2009 to 2015 Gladius with a CNC-machined aluminium lever whose distance from the grip can be adjusted, so the relearning starts from a comfortable hand position.

Construction and Material Quality
When you are rebuilding a skill, it helps if the equipment behaves the same way every time. The ESS248 is a fixed lever: hub and blade are one piece of CNC-machined aluminium, with no hinge that could introduce play. Accossato anodises it after machining, turning the outer layer of the metal into a hard, coloured oxide instead of applying paint. The hub around the pivot and the reach adjuster is black; the blade comes in the colour you order, from understated black or silver to bright orange or green.
Back in the Saddle After a Break
Skills fade unevenly during a break from riding. Balance and a sense for traffic come back within a ride or two, but fine control of the clutch lives in a muscle memory that has not been used for a while, and the first outings are often marked by stalls, jerky starts and awkward U-turns. Each of those knocks confidence more than it deserves to. A lever that sits within easy reach shortens the relearning. Set the ESS248 so that the fingers rest on the blade at their first joint with the hand relaxed, then spend half an hour in an empty car park letting the lever out slowly, again and again, until the friction point is familiar once more. Slow figures of eight and tight turns at walking pace follow naturally from there. The long blade lightens the pull for a hand that is out of practice; once the old confidence has returned, many riders find the standard length on their Gladius just as comfortable.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESS248 is listed by Accossato for the SFV 650 Gladius from 2009 to 2015 and takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. The brake side of the Gladius is covered by the EDF014, listed for the same years. Ordering both in one colour, and if you like in different lengths, gives a matched pair adapted to each hand.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this clutch lever, and it is therefore offered for circuit use only.
