DescriptionThe whole story▼
Honda now also offers the CB750 Hornet with its automated E-Clutch, which makes the conventional version something of a statement: a bike for riders who want to work the clutch themselves. If the lever is going to be used at every start and most gear changes, it should suit the hand that uses it. The Accossato ESY688H is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the CB750 Hornet of 2023 to 2026, with adjustable reach and a choice of three lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the conventional Honda CB750 Hornet, 2023 to 2026
- Fits at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Blade lengths short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium; rigid construction
- No German ABE documented: track use
Construction and Material Quality
The ESY688H is shaped by CNC machining and anodised: black for the hub, which carries the pivot and the reach adjustment, and one of seven colours for the blade. The blade is attached rigidly and has no hinge, so the only movement in the lever is the one you make. That gives the clutch a precise, repeatable feel, which is exactly what riders who prefer a manual clutch are looking for.
Manual by Choice
Riders who choose a manual clutch usually do so for control. They like deciding exactly how the drive is taken up when pulling away on a steep, gravelly slope, how much slip to allow when turning in a tight space, and when to let the engine brake after a downshift. On a parallel twin like the Hornet's, with its lively pulse at low revs, that fine control is part of the fun. The lever is where it all happens, and a lever set for someone else's hand dulls it. Adjust the ESY688H so that the friction zone falls in the part of your fingers' movement where you have the most feel, usually with the fingers partly bent rather than stretched. The standard length is a sensible starting point; the long blade reduces the effort for riders who hold the clutch in slow traffic, and the short one suits two-finger operation. Once it is set, the clutch becomes a tool you use with intent rather than a chore, which is the whole point of a manual clutch.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESY688H for the CB750 Hornet from 2023 to 2026, fitted at the original clutch mounting, and the brake lever for the same bikes is the EDF018. This listing refers to the conventional CB750 Hornet; for the E-Clutch version of 2026 Accossato lists only the brake lever.
Road Approval
With no German ABE documented, the ESY688H is sold for the track.
