DescriptionThe whole story▼

Sooner or later a rider who books track time stops accepting whatever is in the calipers and starts choosing. Accossato makes that choice possible on the R nineT Urban G/S of 2017 to 2023 by listing the AGPA96 plate in five materials; this article number carries the ZXC ceramic racing compound, which the company sums up as a ceramic mixture meant for racing. It suits an owner who has already discovered that a tall, upright roadster can be hustled around a circuit and now wants the front end to answer the same way in the last session as in the first.

Key Features

  • Front pads for the BMW R nineT Urban G/S, catalogued 2017 to 2023
  • AGPA96ZXC: the AGPA96 plate with the ZXC ceramic racing compound
  • Accossato's description is short: a ceramic mixture for racing
  • Bought for circuit days, test sessions and competition
  • One caliper takes the two pads that come in a box
  • Both front discs are gripped by their own caliper, so an axle needs two boxes
  • Four further materials, OR, ST, EV1 and EV2, exist on this plate
  • No German ABE, no approval mark in our documents; competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The metal underneath is the same in every AGPA96 article; only the compound pressed onto its face changes, and that is where the price of the part and the character of the brake both come from. Accossato reserves this ceramic recipe for racing and does not dress the claim up any further. What such a material is bought for is behaviour that does not wander as the day heats up, and what it is not bought for is a quiet trip to the supermarket on a cold Tuesday. The box holds the pair of pads that goes into one caliper of the Urban G/S, nothing more.

Changing Material in the Middle of a Season

Moving from one compound to another is not simply a matter of unclipping the old pads. The disc surface carries a thin film of whatever has been running against it, so a fresh set wants a proper introduction: a few laps of progressively firmer stops before anyone thinks about lap times. Clean the discs first, push the pistons back gently after wiping the grime off them rather than forcing dirt into the seals, and check that the lever comes up hard before the R nineT leaves the garage. Keep the old set labelled in the van; many riders run one material for road use and another for track days, and unlabelled pads in a plastic bag are how the wrong ones end up fitted at seven on a Sunday morning.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato assigns this front plate to the Urban G/S variant of the R nineT built between 2017 and 2023. The standard model, in production since 2014, takes the AGPA177 at the front, and the rear brake of both is served by the AGPA29 from 2014 to 2023. The same catalogue offers two front discs for the family, the DK006 and the DK007. With one box per caliper, a front change means buying two, and the pair should be fitted on the same afternoon so that both sides are working at the same state of wear.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no test certificate accompany this article, so we have nothing that would document it for public roads. The AGPA96ZXC is therefore offered for racing and closed circuits.

Scope of Delivery

One box with two Accossato AGPA96 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, the set for a single front caliper.
