DescriptionThe whole story▼

Team endurance races are a sociable way into enduro competition: two or three riders share one bike over several hours and hand it over at each pit stop. For a GasGas EC 250 that means a long day of different hands on the same controls, and several riders' mistakes adding up on one machine. The clutch lever takes the brunt of it. Accossato makes the C7284 for the EC 250 of 2018 and 2019, a clutch lever milled from Ergal 7075 whose joint lets the blade fold forward in a fall.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the GasGas EC 250 of 2018 and 2019
  • Accossato also lists it for the XC 250 of the same two years
  • Fits the original clutch mount in place of the stock lever
  • Long blade laid out for four fingers
  • Anti-break joint, Accossato's name for the folding blade
  • Made in Italy, CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
  • Blade in black, blue or orange on a dark base
  • No German ABE documented; off-road and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Each rider in a team holds the lever a little differently, which is where a long blade helps: the C7284 is drawn for four fingers, so every hand has room to find its own place on it. Accossato machines the lever in Italy from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC equipment. The alloy is among the strongest aluminium types in general use, and the company's aims are strength, low weight and reliability. The part has a dark base at the clutch pivot and a blade in the colour you order, joined by the folding joint.

One Bike, Several Riders

Sharing a bike shows how differently people use a clutch. One rider slips it constantly, another uses two fingers only for gear changes, a third pulls it right in for every corner. Each will crash at some point, and every crash onto the left side lands on the same lever. In a team race there is rarely time to repair anything between stints: the next rider needs the bike at once, and whatever state the controls are in is the state they get.

A clutch lever that snaps in the first hour can end the whole team's race, or cost a long stop while someone swaps it. In a fall the C7284's blade has room to fold forward on its joint rather than breaking at its tip, which may be enough for the EC 250 to go back out with a usable clutch. It won't prevent every failure; a heavy blow at a bad angle can still break it. But in a format where one bike carries several people's efforts, protecting the parts that suffer most is simple common sense.

Fitment and Compatibility

The C7284 covers the GasGas EC 250 of 2018 and 2019 and, according to Accossato, the XC 250 of the same years, in each case at the original clutch mount. Spanish-built EC 250s from 2003 to 2015 take the C7283 instead; there was no 2016 model year, and the 2017 bike is covered by neither clutch lever. On the brake side, the B8206 folding lever is listed for 2003 to 2015 and for 2018 and 2019.

Road Approval

No German ABE is available for the C7284. Even a registered EC 250 fitted with it is not approved for public roads; the lever is intended for off-road and competition use.
