DescriptionThe whole story▼
Early spring and late autumn are fine seasons for a classic bike like the V7 II Special: quiet roads, low sun, cool air. Cold fingers are the price. They lose strength and feeling, and the clutch, used at every junction, is where that shows first. The Accossato ESD037 is a clutch lever for the V7 II Special of 2015 and 2016: anodised aluminium, fitted where the original lever sat and adjustable in reach, so the lever can meet stiff fingers where they are.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Moto Guzzi V7 II Special (ABS 750), 2015 to 2016
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable close to the pivot
- Long blade in blue, gold, green and orange for a lighter pull
- Standard length about 138 mm in all seven colours
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- No folding joint
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The ESD037 is a one-piece lever: an aluminium blank is milled to shape on CNC machines, then anodised, the hub in black and the blade in the colour you specify. The hub holds the pivot and the reach adjuster. Unlike a painted part, the anodised surface shrugs off the condensation that forms when a cold bike is wheeled into a warm garage, and there is no folding joint to stiffen in the cold.
Cold Hands, Heavy Fingers
When the temperature drops, winter gloves get thicker and the fingers inside them get weaker. The first few kilometres of a cold ride are often the hardest: the gloves have not warmed up, the fingers are stiff, and the V7 II Special's clutch is needed at every junction on the way out of town. Two adjustments help. First, move the ESD037 slightly further out for thick gloves, so the lever does not press on the fingers when released; move it too far, though, and each pull begins with the fingers stretched, so find the balance with the gloves on. Second, consider the long blade, made in blue, gold, green and orange: its extra length gives the fingers more leverage, which lowers the effort of each pull when strength is reduced. Heated grips or handlebar muffs, if you fit them, change the hand position once more, so check the reach again after any such addition.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the V7 II Special, Accossato lists the ESD037 for 2015 and 2016, catalogued under the name V7 750 Special. It takes the place of the original lever at the clutch mounting. Its partner on the brake side, the EDF016, reaches one year further, to 2017. In black or red the lever comes only in the standard size, in silver also short.
Road Approval
There is no documented ABE for German roads covering the ESD037. We sell it for track use.
