This engine is one of the places the trade is felt rather than merely calculated: a litre-class four asks for air hardest at wide throttle and high revs, which on a Katana is not a rare event but half the reason it exists. Below that, through town and at touring pace, nothing about the intake changes. In the other direction the record stays straight: no element dropped into a standard airbox makes a stock motorcycle noticeably stronger.
