Low winter sun on a wet road, a lake beside the route, a spring ride past the last snow on the verge: those are the moments a mirrored visor earns its place. About this tint
Water, snow and wet tarmac all bounce sunlight back up at you, and that reflected glare is what makes your eyes water in the colder months. The blue iridium layer returns part of the light at the visor, so less of it arrives at your eyes, and outsiders see a blue mirror instead of your face.
Blue is the colour people often pair with blue or white helmet graphics. Shark states no difference in darkening between Blue and the other VZ30046P mirrors, so treat the colour as a styling decision.
Road or track
Shark's Range Book 2027 lists Blue on page 36 as approved day use only. That places it with Red and Pink as the road-going mirrors of this number, for daylight. The supplier line for VZ30046P names no approval, so the Range Book is our source.
Winter days are short. If the ride could run into dusk, carry the clear VZ30012P (code INC, rated by Shark for all users). For a darker racing-only option there is the smoke VZ30010P.
Fitment
Shark's page of compatible visors for the Spartan RS and Spartan GT Pro on shark-helmets.com is where the fit comes from. One VZ300-family visor serves both helmets, so this article number works on either.
Fitting
Cold fingers and small mechanisms do not mix, so do the swap indoors. Release the old visor as your helmet's handbook describes and seat this one on the four anchor points. Close the central grip until the lock engages, test the vent notch, and adjust the handling resistance: in winter gloves a slightly firmer setting is easier to control.
Signs it needs replacing
Winter riding brings road salt, grit and spray, and wiping them off on the move scratches a mirror faster than summer dust. Against a low sun, those scratches glow and scatter light across the view. Chips at the edge of the coating that start to spread are another clear sign.
Care
After a salty ride, rinse the visor under lukewarm water before any cloth goes near it, so grit is washed away rather than dragged across. Then clean with a damp microfibre cloth. Avoid solvents and household glass cleaners, since the coating is more sensitive than the visor itself. Dry thoroughly and store in a soft bag.
