The Whole Interface, One Side
Modes, traction, wheelie levels and the display. On a supermoto whose settings genuinely change through a single ride, the left block is the busiest thing on the motorcycle.
Found While Standing
Off the seat with weight over the pegs, a hand meets the bar from a different angle entirely. Machined geometry is what makes a control findable in that position too.
Fasteners Into Solid Metal
Cut threads rather than moulded bosses. On a bike whose bars get replaced after falls, components that can be removed and refitted repeatedly matter more than usual.
Grip Without Distortion
A machined clamp follows the tube rather than pinching it. On an SP with an expensive handlebar, not deforming it is a practical rather than aesthetic concern.
Grit, Then Time
Dust worked past a clipped cover never dries out again. Water at least evaporates on a warm afternoon; road debris simply stays against a terminal permanently.
Reversible in an Afternoon
Nothing cut. The standard block goes back on before a sale, which on a bike modified as heavily as an SP usually is is worth keeping possible.
Longer Springs, Sharper Steering
The SP's extra travel raises the whole motorcycle and steepens the head angle with it. The bike turns harder on the front wheel and demands rather more commitment to do it well.
Bought by People Who Can Ride
The SP is not the sensible Hypermotard and Ducati never pretended it was. Its owners are the ones who use the seat as somewhere to move around rather than somewhere to sit.
Carbon Where It Helps
The SP carries carbon panels at the front where they are most exposed and most expensive to replace. It is an odd decision and it tells you what the bike is expected to do.
