DescriptionThe whole story▼
An Africa Twin carries its silencer high on the right, behind the rider, next to where a soft bag goes. The Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-H11SO2-HGJT takes 1.4 kg out of exactly that spot — 24.6 per cent of the standard unit — and it belongs to the Durability Reimagined range, which is Akrapovic's answer to the fact that adventure bikes get dropped.
Key Features
- 4.23 kg against the standard 5.61 kg: 1.4 kg and 24.6 per cent less, from the highest and furthest-back point of the machine
- Part of the Durability Reimagined range, built for impacts, grit and corrugations rather than for the lowest possible mass alone
- Double-flow muffler with an integrated exhaust valve — the sound changes audibly as the revs drop, from the pulse of the parallel twin to a deeper, fuller note
- Handmade carbon fibre heat shield and end cap, with an imprinted titanium muffler body
- Complex parts cast in the Akrapovic in-house foundry
- Compatible with the Honda side cases and the centre stand
- EC and ECE type approved, plug-and-play in about 40 minutes with no remapping
What the Dyno Actually Says
This one needs stating carefully. Akrapovic records a gain of 0.7 PS at 4,000 rpm and 1.2 Nm at 4,100 rpm — both low in the range, where an Africa Twin works. But peak power measures 94.7 PS against the standard 95.8 PS, and peak torque 100.5 Nm against 100.9 Nm. In other words the curve is fuller down low and marginally softer at the very top.
For a bike that spends its life between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm on gravel, that is the right trade. It is not a power upgrade, and this listing does not sell it as one.
The Exhaust Valve
The double-flow muffler carries its own exhaust valve, which is unusual on a slip-on. It is what produces the deliberate change in character: hard and pulsing at higher revs, deep and full as the revs fall. On the 1,084 cc parallel twin with its 270-degree crank, that switch is very audible.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-H11SO2-HGJT covers the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and the Adventure Sports from model year 2020 through 2023. Honda's own panniers and the centre stand can stay fitted. An optional stainless steel header, E-H10R9/1, is available separately; it is not required and carries no road approval.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union with no entry in the vehicle documents required.
