DescriptionThe whole story▼
Tight kart circuits suit the Dorsoduro 750 better than most big racetracks. Aprilia's supermoto-styled V-twin has a wide handlebar, an upright riding position and plenty of drive out of slow corners, which is exactly what a short, twisty layout asks for, and many owners book a day on such a track once or twice a season. For the Dorsoduro 750 of 2014 to 2016, the Factory included, Accossato lists the FP001, an oil filler cap made from CNC-machined, anodised aluminium with an M20x1.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 and Dorsoduro 750 Factory, 2014 to 2016
- Thread M20x1.5 as specified by Accossato
- Aluminium machined on CNC equipment, anodised
- Choice of eight: black, titanium, silver, gold, orange, green, blue, red
- Suitable for other bikes with the same cap size, subject to a check
- TS004 front and TS013 rear reservoir caps listed for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; for use on the track
Construction and Material Quality
The FP001 is made of aluminium, machined to shape on CNC equipment and then anodised. The anodising is what gives the FP001 its colour, and Accossato offers eight: black, titanium, silver, gold, orange, green, blue and red. The thread size is M20x1.5. Accossato calls the cap adaptable: beyond the listed models, a motorcycle whose filler takes the same size is a candidate too, which makes the thread the one figure worth knowing before you order.
A Day at the Kart Track
The oil check for a track day belongs to the evening before, not the paddock. With the Dorsoduro 750 cold and standing the way its handbook specifies, read the level and top up if needed; that way you arrive knowing the engine is ready. On the day, many organisers look each bike over for leaks before the first session, and a filler cap that is clean and dry makes that inspection quick. A kart circuit keeps the engine working hard in the lower gears, lap after lap, so use the first break to look at the filler and the crankcase just below it. If you see a damp patch, let the engine cool completely before opening anything; never unscrew the cap on a hot engine. When the cap has to come out, keep it on a clean cloth and wipe the thread and sealing face before refitting. Finger-tight is enough; more effort does not seal it any better. Packing a rag, a funnel and a small bottle of the specified oil takes up little room in the van.
Fitment and Compatibility
Both the Dorsoduro 750 and the Dorsoduro 750 Factory appear on Accossato's list with the years 2014 to 2016. In our catalogue the same cap is also filed under the Dorsoduro 900, the Shiver 750 GT and the Moto Guzzi Griso SE 8V 1200. If your Dorsoduro 750 is from an earlier year, hold the original cap against the specification before ordering: its thread must be M20x1.5. For the front and rear brake reservoirs of this bike, Accossato also makes the TS004 and the TS013.
Road Approval
No ABE and no test mark are documented for the FP001, so it is sold here for circuit and competition riding.
