DescriptionThe whole story▼

The BMW R1200R is the boxer in its most direct form: a naked roadster with the flat twin sticking out on both sides, shaft drive and an upright seat. Accossato lists it for this cap from 2006 to 2018. Owners use it for everything from commuting to club track days, and riders who take a roadster to the circuit usually pack a small, well-chosen box of tools and spares. Accossato's FC103, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with a pawl in six colours, is listed for it.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the BMW R1200R, 2006 to 2018
  • CNC-machined from aluminium
  • Quick-closing pawl
  • Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Replacement pawl available separately
  • New design from Accossato
  • No German ABE documented; for the track

Construction and Material Quality

On CNC machines, Accossato turns aluminium into the FC103 and presents the result as robust and durable; the design is new. On the R1200R, the quick-closing pawl opens the tank quickly and closes it again quickly, and that pawl can be chosen in six colours. Worth noting for the paddock box: the pawl is sold on its own, so a damaged one can be replaced without buying a new cap.

What Goes in the Paddock Box

A good paddock box for a roadster on a track day is small and carefully packed. Tyre gauge, a torque wrench and the sockets that fit the bike, cable ties, tape for the lights, a few cleaning cloths, brake cleaner and a spare pair of gloves. Add a funnel for fuel and a small bottle of water for rinsing drips off the paint. If the R1200R wears an FC103, the box has room for one more item: a replacement pawl. It is small and takes up almost no space, but a pawl bent in a tip-over or clogged with grit can otherwise end a day early, because a cap that does not close properly has no place on a circuit. Accossato sells the pawl separately so that the cap itself can stay on the bike, and carrying one turns a lost afternoon into a short repair.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's R 1200 R entry for the FC103 spans 2006 to 2018 in one piece, without separate versions. Compare the model year of your R1200R with the application list before ordering. We also list the same cap for the R nineT and the K1600 GTL.

Road Approval

The FC103 has no German ABE and no parts certificate on record, so it is intended for the track. The R1200R's original filler cap is normally locked with the ignition key and should remain on a bike ridden on public roads.

Scope of Delivery

One FC103 fuel tank cap with the pawl colour you pick; the replacement pawl is sold separately.
