DescriptionThe whole story▼
The R1M is the version of Yamaha's superbike that owners tend to keep for a long time. Electronically adjustable suspension, carbon fibre bodywork and a data logger set it apart from the standard R1, and many are looked after with collectors' care. The Accossato LV020 is a folding brake lever for the R1M of 2015 to 2020, made for the original radial master cylinder. It replaces only the lever, so the stock part can go into a drawer and stay there in good condition.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Yamaha R1M, 2015 to 2020
- For the original radial brake master cylinder
- Replaces the stock lever, which you can keep
- Blade folds at the joint with its black base
- Adjustable reach
- RST or NRST blade, eight colours including titanium
- CNC-machined aluminium, standard length
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's experience with brakes comes from discs developed for Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, a fitting background for a part on a bike like the R1M. The LV020 itself is simpler than a disc: two parts, both CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised. The black base takes over from the stock lever at the pivot of the radial master cylinder and holds the reach adjuster. The blade, in one of eight colours, is joined to it so that it can fold. It is made in one standard length, with or without the RST opening.
Keep the Original in a Drawer
Owners of special models think about originality. Many who modify an R1M keep every part they remove, labelled and stored, so that the bike can go back to standard when it is sold or simply when they change their mind. A brake lever is an easy part to handle that way. The LV020 takes the place of the lever alone, and the stock item can be wrapped and put away with the rest: note which bike it came from and keep it somewhere dry. The folding blade adds a further argument for riding on the Accossato lever rather than the original. A lever that can fold in a tip-over reduces the chance of damage, and if something does happen, it happens to the replacement, not to a part that belongs with the history of the R1M. When the time comes to sell, the bike can be offered with its original lever refitted and the LV020 as an extra, or the other way round, whichever the buyer prefers.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the LV020 for the R1M from 2015 to 2020, under the entry YZF 1000 R1 M, for the original radial master cylinder. The LV022 is listed for the same years as a second folding option. Accossato keeps the R1M as an entry of its own, separate from the standard R1, so choose the product that names your model.
Road Approval
We can point to no German ABE for this lever, so the R1M version of the LV020 is sold for circuit use.
