Four Sprint Filter elements are listed for this airbox, and it is tempting to read them as one ladder: 85, 80, 14 and 7 microns, coarse down to fine. They are not one ladder. Two of them are woven polyester and two, this one included, are non-wovens — a different material made by a different process. The Turismo Veloce is the only machine on this housing offered all four, which makes its owner the only MV rider who ever has to compare across that line.
Key Features
- P14 special non-woven fabric, dry, rated at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec
- A depth material: it carries its load through thickness, not on a single face
- Direct replacement in the series airbox — nothing modified, no mapping change
- No oil at any stage, so nothing can migrate onto the sensors metering intake air
- Cleaned with compressed air and reused instead of discarded
- Two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Where the published numbers stop
For the two woven media there are measured retention figures: 93.13 % of 100-micron particles for the standard cloth, 95.22 % for the racing weave, against 76.42 % for a four-layer oiled cotton element in the same comparison. For the two non-wovens no equivalent percentage is published, and carrying a figure across from a woven material to a non-woven one would be inventing it. What the P14 has is its specification — 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec, a far tighter number than the standard weave at roughly a third of its rated flow. The honest description stops there. Neither fine element in this family is a premium item either; both are listed below the standard cloth, so price is not what decides between them.
What a depth material changes for the owner
A woven panel wears its load on a surface, so you can look at it and form an opinion. A mat holds a good deal of what it caught inside itself, and the visual check learned on paper panels is the wrong instrument. The service therefore moves from looking to a written rule, tied to the roads the bike has actually covered rather than to a number on the dash. On a machine ridden in one country and serviced in another, that rule is worth writing down. None of this is a power change in either direction; an element inside a series airbox does not make a Turismo Veloce stronger.
Care and cleaning
CM135P14 is regenerated dry. Hold the compressor line against the clean side and work outward, so the load travels back out the way it arrived rather than deeper into the material. If the mat still feels heavy, warm water with a mild washing-up detergent will bring the rest out; rinse until the water runs clear. Drying takes patience and open air, and nothing else will do — heat guns, radiators and flames are what polyester does not survive, whether it is woven or not. It goes back into the housing dry and untreated. Instructions are in the Downloads tab.
