DescriptionThe whole story▼
Shaft 8/222.5, Öhlins part number 02256-12. This is a part that is replaced rather than repaired.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 02256-12
- Length 222.5 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Diameter 8 mm
Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 8 mm, 222.5 mm; nothing about that is approximate. The polished section runs in the seal; a mark there ends the seal's life. Shaft diameter sets the volume displaced into the reservoir on every compression stroke. Any mark on the polished section is a reason to replace rather than to reassemble.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier.
Identifying the Right Part
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 02256-12. Öhlins states diameter 8 mm, length 222.5 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Shafts are not shortened or extended; the length is the specification. A shaft is threaded at both ends: one for the piston, one for the mounting.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
