DescriptionThe whole story▼

Öhlins part number 08411-95 is a pair of fork springs rated at 9.5 N/mm, 250 mm long with a 29.5 mm inner diameter. This is the change a suspension technician makes first, before touching a single click.

Key Features

  • Öhlins part number 08411-95
  • Free length 250 mm
  • Measured spring rate 9.5 N/mm
  • Supplied as a pair
  • 148 mm of usable stroke
  • Inner diameter 29.5 mm
  • Straight-wound, constant rate

Why the Rate Holds

The wire is progressively wound where the application calls for it and straight where it does not. Each spring is set before it is measured, so it will not settle and lose rate in service. Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly.

The Numbers That Matter

Free length 250 mm, inner diameter 29.5 mm, rate 9.5 N/mm — those three figures define the part completely.

Where This Rate Belongs

Firm rates also suit machines carrying luggage as a matter of course. This end of the range suits heavier riders, two-up use, or a machine ridden hard enough that fork dive becomes the limit. If the suspension bottoms out or the geometry collapses under load, this is the direction to go. Road surfaces are the hardest test of a spring rate, because the fork has to cope with both a smooth stretch and a broken one.

Applications

Selection is by measurement. If the diameter and free length match your fork, the remaining question is the rate. Öhlins builds springs to dimensions rather than to model lists, so the question is always the same: does the diameter fit, does the length fit, and is the rate right for the rider? Any workshop with the fork or shock in front of it can answer whether this spring fits — the three figures above are all it needs.

What Fitting Involves

Torque the fork caps to the manufacturer's figure; the springs change nothing about the assembly torque. Fitting is a fork-oil job: the legs come apart, the springs go in, the oil level is set to specification. Preload spacers usually need shortening or lengthening so the installed length stays correct.

Road Approval

Road approval: no separate certificate. The spring changes the rate, not the construction of the fork, and is treated as a service part.

Fitting and Setup Service

Fitting matters as much as the part. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and carry out installation, servicing and setup ourselves — get in touch and we will arrange it alongside your order.
