DescriptionThe whole story▼

A Rivale 800 used for touring weekends, with a tail pack and perhaps a passenger, asks more from its rear brake than a bike that only sees town. The AGPA42 rear pad in Accossato's Sintered compound, article AGPA42ST, is catalogued for the MV Agusta Rivale 800 from 2013 to 2020. It is aimed at owners who ride through the colder months, cross mountain passes and want the pedal to behave the same on a wet descent as on a dry straight.

Key Features

  • AGPA42ST: Sintered rear pads for the MV Agusta Rivale 800
  • Catalogued for model years 2013 to 2020
  • Accossato reports high, even grip at low and high temperatures
  • Good grip in the wet, according to the maker
  • Helps on long descents with luggage or passenger
  • Also produced for this plate as OR and ZXC
  • Sold for competition use; no German approval on file

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's claim for this Sintered compound is a grip level that is both high and constant, whether the brake is cold or hot, together with a firm grip on a wet disc. At the rear of the Rivale 800 that means the pedal gives the same feedback on a frosty morning and after a long mountain descent where the brake has been dragged for minutes. The maker also points to a long service life and to controlled heat build-up that holds fade back. The Sintered layer is carried on the AGPA42 plate.

Two Up on a Wet Pass

With a passenger aboard, more weight sits over the rear wheel and the back brake becomes a real tool for steadying the bike on steep, wet hairpins. Using it lightly on the way into each bend keeps the Rivale settled while the front does the main work. For that job you want a rear pad that does not change character when the road turns from dry to damp.

Before a long trip, check the rear reservoir level and look at the colour of the fluid. Keep the disc clean and free of chain lube, which can drift onto it after enthusiastic chain maintenance.

Fitment and Compatibility

AGPA42 is listed by Accossato for the rear axle of the MV Agusta Rivale 800 from 2013 to 2020. The corresponding front pad is AGPA177, catalogued for 2013 to 2017, and Accossato also names DKS020 as a disc for this bike. One box is enough because the Rivale has a single rear caliper.

Road Approval

No approval paperwork, neither ABE nor German test mark, is on hand for AGPA42ST. We therefore offer the set for racing and competition.

Scope of Delivery

Two Sintered rear pads, packed in one box for the single caliper.
