DescriptionThe whole story▼
A cross-country race asks a different question of a bike than a motocross moto does. Instead of twenty minutes on a prepared track there are two or three hours on ground that gets rougher as the day goes on, with no chance to come in and no mechanic waiting. Everything on a TX 125 is judged by whether it will still be working at the end of that, and the controls are judged hardest of all, because they are handled continuously and protected least. Accossato lists the AGD14 for the TX 125 of 2018 and 2019, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever of the original type for the Husqvarna TX 125
- Accossato's entry covers 2018 and 2019
- Silver
- Right-hand side, front brake
- An original spare parts type from Accossato, priced as a spare
- Accossato states that the manufacturing process improves resistance after a collision
- One lever
- No German ABE or test mark; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The AGD14 reproduces the shape of the brake lever the TX 125 came with, which is all an original spare parts type sets out to do. On a long race that fidelity has a practical value: a rider three hours into a lap has no spare attention for a control that behaves differently from the one they set off with. Accossato built the range so that replacing a damaged part is an ordinary cost, and reports that its production method leaves these levers more resistant after damage or a fall. Silver is the listed colour, and the manufacturer publishes nothing further about the part.
Three Hours Instead of Twenty Minutes
Long races change what counts as preparation. On a motocross bike a control can be marginal and survive the afternoon; on a TX 125 doing lap after lap through woodland, anything marginal will be found out. Go over the cockpit properly before a cross-country event rather than after it. Take the brake lever off, check the pivot bore for wear and the bolt for a groove, clean both and grease them lightly, then reassemble so the blade moves freely and returns instantly. Look at the perch clamp: it should be tight enough to stay put in normal riding and loose enough to rotate in a fall, which is the single cheapest piece of crash protection on any off-road bike. Then think about fatigue, since that is what a long race adds to the equation. A blade at a slightly wrong angle costs nothing on lap one and a great deal on lap twelve, when the forearm is tired and the fingers want the lever to be exactly where they left it. Set the perch angle from your standing position, with the weight forward, and check it again after the first practice session. If the lever has been bent at any point, fit a new one instead of straightening it, because a corrected blade is likely to break in the middle of the race rather than before it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD14 for the TX 125 in 2018 and 2019, with the AGD316 covering 2017, so the year settles the choice on this model without any comparison of shapes. The AGD14 appears with us for the Husqvarna FC 250, the TC 125 and the TE 300 as well. On the clutch side the TX 125 takes the AGS17 for the same two seasons. Accossato's CNC levers for this machine are the B8283 and the C7284 for anyone who wants a tuning part rather than a spare.
Road Approval
No approval documentation for the AGD14 is held by us, which means no German ABE and no test mark. We list the lever for racing and competition, which is where a TX 125 is ridden in any case.
