DescriptionThe whole story▼

Ducati built the DesertX for riders who take an adventure bike seriously off road: long suspension travel, a large front wheel and styling that recalls the desert rally bikes of the past. Owners ride it on rocky tracks, dry riverbeds and sand, where a fall at low speed is part of the day. Accossato, a company with an Enduro world title from 1985 in its history, lists the PP069 rear axle sliders for the DesertX of 2022 to 2024: a black pair in aluminium and plastic for the swingarm and rear axle.

Key Features

  • Rear axle sliders for the Ducati DesertX, 2022 to 2024
  • Accossato Rear Fork Protection PP069
  • Aluminium and plastic, black
  • Two protectors, one per side
  • Spacers, screws and all mounting parts included, according to Accossato
  • Designed to touch down first and help reduce damage at the swingarm and rear axle
  • No German ABE; for competition use

Construction and Material Quality

PP069 is made from aluminium and plastic and supplied in black, two to a pack. Spacers, screws and all other parts required for mounting are included, Accossato says. The manufacturer's description does not show how the protectors are positioned on the DesertX, and we will not invent it. Off road, their job is to be the first thing that meets a rock or the ground, so that the swingarm and the rear axle may be spared some of the damage.

Rocks, Ruts and Sand

Off-road falls on a big adventure bike are usually slow. The front washes out in sand, the rear slides into a rut, or a rock deflects the bike on a steep climb, and the DesertX lies down on its side. The ground is rarely smooth: stones hit whatever sticks out, and the area around the rear axle is exposed on the way down. Lifting the bike comes first. Use your legs rather than your back, and get help if the ground is loose or the slope steep. Before starting again, check for fuel or oil leaks. Then look at the rear sliders and their screws, and plan to replace a damaged protector when you return. In sand, keep your weight back and your speed up; on rocks, stand on the pegs, look where you want to go and let the bike move beneath you. The logic of a part that is there to be sacrificed is familiar to every enduro rider.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the PP069 for the DesertX from 2022 to 2024. At Inter-Pace the same part is also listed for the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, the Monster 1200 and the XDiavel. With the protectors in place, turn the rear wheel and watch the chain, the brake caliper and the exhaust: none of them may come into contact. Tighten the screws to the values in Ducati's workshop manual and check them again after the first ride off road.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE or test documentation for the PP069 in our files; it is intended for racing and competition.

Scope of Delivery
