DescriptionThe whole story▼
The DK259 that Accossato lists for the smaller 125XC-W turns up again here, on the KTM 450SX-F, covering the 2007 to 2024 model years: the same fixed front disc, steel-made according to the supplier, with six 6.5 mm mounting holes set on a 143 mm circle around a 127 mm centre opening, 270 mm overall and 3 mm thick.
Key Features
- Fixed front brake disc for the KTM 450SX-F, 2007 to 2024
- One piece, steel-made according to the supplier
- 270 mm outer diameter, 127 mm centre opening
- 3 mm thick when new
- Six 6.5 mm fixing holes on a 143 mm circle
- Interchangeable with the original front disc
- Minimum working thickness marked on the disc
- No German ABE on file; for off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
As on the smaller bikes Accossato lists it for, the DK259 is a single piece of steel rather than a riveted disc with a separate carrier, 270 mm across a 127 mm centre opening, 3 mm thick when new, with six 6.5 mm holes on a 143 mm circle for the mounting bolts. Accossato points to Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 racing as the source of its approach to material choice and the fit between disc and hub, and the minimum working thickness is marked on the disc for a quick check against a micrometre.
One Front Disc, Two Different Engines
KTM shares a good deal of running gear across its motocross and enduro range, and the DK259's spread of fitments, from a 125 cc trail bike to the full-size 450SX-F, is one result of that. The disc itself does not change between applications; what changes is how hard a given engine can push it. A 450SX-F puts considerably more energy through its front brake over a race than a 125 does, simply because it carries more speed into every corner, so a disc shared between the two is likely to show wear sooner on the bigger bike even though the part number is identical.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK259 for the 450SX-F from 2007 to 2024, in place of the original front disc. The same bike also takes the DK017 as an alternative front option from 2003 to 2023, and the DK018 covers the rear wheel from 2003 to 2026. Torque the disc bolts to the figure given in KTM's manual and bed the new disc in before riding hard.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval are documented for the DK259. Accossato lists it for off-road competition, which is how the 450SX-F is raced.
