DescriptionThe whole story▼

Enduro bikes have a side stand, and it is not always a friend. Park a KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days on soft ground, at a fuel stop in a field or in a paddock after rain, and the foot of the stand can slowly sink until the bike tips over to the left. Accossato's C7283 for the 500 EXC-F Six Days of 2014 to 2018 cannot stop a stand from sinking, but its long blade can fold forward when the bike comes down on it.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days, 2014 to 2018
  • Fits the original clutch mount
  • Long four-finger blade
  • Anti-break joint: the blade can fold forward
  • CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red
  • One lever supplied
  • No German ABE documented; not approved for public roads

Construction and Material Quality

A folding lever relies on parts that are strong in themselves. On the C7283 both the base and the blade are CNC-milled in Italy from solid Ergal 7075; strength, low weight and reliability are what Accossato expects of the alloy. The dark base stays on the clutch pivot, while the blade, in black, blue, orange or red, is joined to it and can fold forward. It is the long clutch design, with room for four fingers.

The Side Stand That Sinks

The problem is simple physics. The stand's small foot presses into soft ground, and a tall enduro bike leaning on it needs to sink only a little before it passes the point of balance. It happens in wet grass, sand and mud, and it happens most often to riders who are busy with something else: refuelling, eating, talking. Prevention is easy: a flat stone, a piece of wood or a purpose-made plate under the foot of the stand, or a bank or tree to lean the bike against.

When it does fall, a 500 EXC-F Six Days comes down with its whole weight on the left end of the handlebar, and the clutch lever lies in its path. It is not a fast fall, but it is a heavy one, and if the ground under the lever is hard, a solid lever can bend or break. On the C7283 the blade can swing ahead on its hinge and slip out from under part of that load, which improves its odds. Pick the bike up, check the clutch and find a firmer spot to park the KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days.

Fitment and Compatibility

The C7283 is listed for the KTM 500 EXC-F Six Days from 2014 to 2018 and fits the original clutch mount. KTM used the name 500 EXC Six Days for the bikes up to and including 2016. For the same years as this lever, Accossato offers the B8283 folding brake lever for the right. Choose black, blue or orange for a matching pair; red is available on the clutch lever only.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for the C7283. Even though the 500 EXC-F Six Days is typically road-registered, this lever is for off-road and competition use and is not approved for public roads.

Scope of Delivery
