DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Tuono V4 1100 RR is at home on an open road, yet most rides begin and end in town, among traffic lights, speed bumps and queues. At walking pace, a sporty V4 asks a lot of the left hand: slip the clutch a little to keep the bike smooth, pull it in for every stop, feed it out for every restart. The Accossato ESV04A is a clutch lever for the RR of 2017 to 2021, milled from aluminium and anodised, which goes on the original clutch mounting and can be adjusted in span.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR, listed 2017 to 2021
  • Goes on the original clutch mounting
  • Adjustable span, set at the hub
  • Available short, standard (about 138 mm) and long, depending on the colour
  • Hub anodised black, blade in seven colour options
  • CNC-machined aluminium
  • Rigid blade without a hinge
  • No German ABE documented, for circuit use

Construction and Material Quality

The ESV04A takes its shape on CNC machines from a solid aluminium blank and its finish from anodising. Its hub, always black, holds the pivot and the span adjuster; its blade, which carries the colour, runs as one solid piece to the tip. The absence of a hinge matters most at low speed, where the clutch is used in small, repeated movements and any play in the lever would blur the point at which drive begins.

Town Riding on a Sporty V4

In slow traffic, a big engine turning just above idle can make the bike surge and hesitate if the clutch is used as a simple on-off switch. Smooth town riding on the Tuono V4 1100 RR relies on the friction zone instead: rolling in first gear with the clutch slipping slightly, and letting it engage fully only once the traffic moves at a steady pace. Kept up for half an hour, that is tiring for the forearm, especially if the lever sits far from the grip and every pull begins with the fingers stretched. Bringing the ESV04A closer lets them work from a curled position, where they are strongest and most precise. A long blade, made in blue, gold, green and orange, reduces the effort further, since the fingers act further from the pivot. On a hot day in a long queue, that difference is felt in the forearm long before the traffic clears.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's catalogue shows the ESV04A for the Tuono 1100 V4 RR from 2017 to 2021, and it replaces the stock clutch lever on the RR's own mounting. The EDF099 brake lever is listed for the same five model years, which makes it easy to order the pair in one colour. Note the range of lengths: black and red exist only as standard levers of about 138 mm, and silver adds a short blade.

Road Approval

The ESV04A has no documented ABE for German roads and is sold for use on the track.
