DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha's FJR1300 is a motorcycle that collects distance: a shaft-driven four-cylinder sports tourer that stayed in the range for about two decades and is often ridden to very high mileages. On a bike used like that, the brake lever is also the rider's main source of information about the health of the front brake. The Accossato EDF016 is a machined aluminium brake lever for the FJR1300 of 2004 to 2020. It fits the original master cylinder and has an adjustable reach, and it changes where the lever sits, not what the hydraulics are telling you.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's experience with braking comes from discs developed for Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and the EDF016 is the simplest component of that world: a lever. It is cut from solid aluminium on CNC machines and anodised, with a black hub for the pivot and the reach setting and a blade in your chosen colour. The blade is rigid from end to end, so the lever adds no softness of its own. Whatever you feel through it comes from the brake system behind it, which is exactly what makes it useful as an instrument.
What the Lever Tells You
A healthy front brake gives a lever that moves a short way, then firms up and stays firm however long you hold it. Changes to that feel are worth reading. A lever that feels soft or spongy, or that creeps towards the grip under steady pressure, usually points to air, old fluid or tired seals; brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which is why service schedules call for fresh fluid at regular intervals. A pulse through the lever under gentle braking often means the discs need checking. None of this is changed by a new lever. The EDF016 moves the blade to where your hand wants it and gives you a new shape to hold, but it cannot firm up a tired system. So if you fit it to a high-mileage FJR1300 and the feel is soft, look at the fluid and the pads before blaming the lever, and have the brakes serviced by someone qualified if you are in any doubt.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF016 is matched to the FJR1300 from 2004 to 2020 on Accossato's list. The first bikes of 2001 to 2003 are not included for this brake lever, whereas the ESC777 clutch lever for the FJR1300 covers every year from 2001 to 2020. The A and AS versions appear as separate listings.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this brake lever; it is sold for track use only.
