Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Royal Enfield Classic 500 (2009–2020) CM195S

The Classic 500 left production in 2020, which means every one of them is now a used motorcycle and every airbox has a history nobody wrote down. How long the panel currently in the box has been there, what it was cleaned with, whether it was ever out at all — none of that is knowable. The Sprint Filter CM195S ends that particular uncertainty in a way a fresh paper panel does not: once it is in, the question stops being when it was last changed and becomes when you last cleaned it, which is a question you can answer.

One variable fewer on an older machine

Twelve model years are covered by this single entry, and the earliest of them are well past the age at which service records survive. A washable element is worth more on that kind of motorcycle than on a new one, because it converts a consumable with an unknown past into a fixed part with a visible present: take it out, look at it, blow it through, and you know exactly what stands in front of the engine. Nothing else in the intake answers that question for the cost of ten minutes.

What it will not do

It will not add power. A drop-in filter does not make a standard Classic 500 noticeably stronger, and an old single is not waiting on its air filter for anything. Nor does it clean bad air: where the roads are dusty the right answer for this box is the P14, whose 14 µm non-woven holds far more and flows 1,800 l/m²/sec instead of 5,050 — protection bought with flow, a trade and not an upgrade. On sealed roads the 80 µm weave is the sensible rung.

Care and cleaning

Service the CM195S dry, from the inside out: an air line on the clean face, worked across the whole surface, pushes the load back off the side that collected it. Water is for the rare greasy job — lukewarm, mild detergent, rinsed clear — and never a substitute for the air line. Dry it in open air only; a heat gun or a flame will damage the weave. Fitment & Compatibility

For the Royal Enfield Classic 500, model years 2009 to 2020. Three further machines share the element: the Bullet B5 500 EFI and the Bullet Trials 500 EFI, both listed from 2011 to 2026, and the Continental GT35 EFI of 2015 to 2018 with its 535 cm³ engine.
